District Basic Education Survey (1994-2000)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The objective of study were to :  undertake a comprehensive baseline survey in 5 districts of Punjab Province to determine the gap between the existing basic education situation (year 1994) and the desired situation by the year 2000;  identify the needs of Schools Teachers and other developmental inputs to meet the goals;  prepare a presentation for each district with main findings of the Survey;  present the findings in provincial training workshops to be organized by GOP for the purpose of developing District Basic Education Plans.

 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

Semiotics recruited, assembled and mobilized the research team. Developed the strategy for conducting the baseline survey.  Designed and pre-tested the research instruments. Hired and trained the field staff for primary and secondary data collection. Undertook a comprehensive Baseline Survey in five related districts for Punjab Province to determine the gap between existing basic education situation and desired situation by year 2000. Analyzed the primary and secondary data; Prepared draft and final reports and a presentation for each district with main findings Presented the findings in provincial training workshops organized by Ministry of Education  for developing District Basic Education Plans.
