School Mapping Activity – Phase I, II & III under Northern Education Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Northern Education Project aimed at overall improvement in Education Sector in the Northern Areas of Pakistan and AJK.

The Objectives of the Phase-I of the school mapping  were to develop contents and strategy for the implementation of a school mapping routine and the incorporation of this activity as part of annual collection and processing of educational data undertaken by the EMIS. The objectives of Phase-II and III were: organize and execute collection and processing of school data in all the seven districts of AJ&K; integration of MIS data with GIS; trained the concerned P&D staff on the use of GIS.

 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

The Semiotics developed contents and strategy for the implementation of a school mapping routine. It developed and carried out field test of the instruments in Mirpur district and tested software for the processing of field data .Carried out census of all the government schools and registered private schools in all the seven districts of AJ&K; developed the MIS database of collected data and GIS of schools in mapinfo shoftware; integrated MIS data with GIS; prepared the reports on different indicators; trained the concerned P&D staff on the use of MIS and  GIS.
