DFID - Teachers and Students Baseline Survey - KP Education Support Programme – TA Component

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The objective of this consultancy is to obtain baseline data of current pedagogy in KP’s primary schools.

SEMIOTICS’ ASSIGNMENT

Semiotics conducted baseline survey of teachers and students, covering a representative sample of 400 primary school teachers in 400 government primary schools across all twenty five districts in the KP province. This survey was carried out using a systematic observation method examining the degree of presence of key teacher and pupil behaviours considered essential for effective classroom teaching and learning. Field team recorded behaviours of teachers and students to obtain a picture of teaching and learning in the classroom.

In order to undertake this work, Semiotics established sampling frame for the survey, including the selections of schools. Designed observation instrument and record sheet to be used for the data collection.  Identified and trained requisite number of field researchers to undertake the classroom observations. Established data capture process to ensure field observations can be quickly and reliably turned into meaningful quantitative as well as qualitative reports of findings. Produced draft and final reports.
