Regional Planning in Northern Areas

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The overall objective of planning exercise was to improve the quality of life of the local population through poverty alleviation while conserving the natural resources including bio-diversity. The  specific objectives were: identification of resources and assessment of existing infrastructural facilities/bench mark information in five districts of Northern Areas ; identification of problems/constraints/obstacles to the development of these districts; identification of infrastructure requirement to develop the resources of these districts; identification of growth points in these districts; and preparation of project profiles based on the findings of the study for donor assistance.

 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

Semiotics Identified, hired and managed consultants and field staff teams. Prepared the discussion papers  for the Planning Workshop. Arranged, organized and managed the Planning Workshops. Deployed moderator and reportieur to facilitate group discussion and document the outcome of the workshop. Prepared workshop report. Organized, managed  and conducted 25 PRAs each for the male and female in all the five districts involving the local communities at grass roots level. Trained the P&D  and other staff in conducting PRAs.  Prepared development profile for N.As in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, natural resources , energy and tourism.
